It’s not our typical freezing cold winter but it also doesn't feel winter because I’ve not stopped.
It feels like the season hasn’t really come to an end. I haven’t even seen the effects of the over indulgence of eating chocolate over the holiday’s, as I’ve been out on the cycles loads thanks to this mild weather.
I have been totally overwhelmed by the response to the 2012 calendar I released. So, a massive thank you to everybody that supported and bought a copy! I hope you have all got them up? If you have don’t forget to post a picture up on my Facebook page!
Just before Christmas I was invited to WNT to receive two morning’s of training on their XYZ machines, at their Sheffield based showroom. As an engineer this was a real treat. XYZ machines & WNT have, as a form of support for my racing, offered me the use of these amazing facilities to make parts for my race bike. Being a qualified machinist, this is a fantastic opportunity, and I'd like to thank them for this offer and all the help they’ve given me in familiarising myself with their CNC lathes and millers so far.
Christmas in the Barman's household is a budgeted affair with a ten pound gift limit per person, this can be quite a fun challenge and we always end up with something to fill our stockings. This Christmas however, I think Father Christmas had been talking to the men at Dunlop, who at every meeting throughout last year helpfully commented on the state of my wheels. Because on Christmas morning Santa had left me a brand new pair of OZ racing wheels in black! They are stunning!
I'm still managing to get lots of miles in on my road racing and mountain bikes, including a festive trip to Dalby forest, and my first forays into riding with the local road club. Two wheels rock!
That’s it for now but what this space for more news on my 2012 race season that lies ahead.
