MotoGP qualifying at the Misano circuit Print E-mail

Dani Pedrosa - photo by Mike Evans Dani Pedrosa blew the rest of the field away today in MotoGP qualifying at Misano, with a 0.3 advantage over Jorge Lorenzo in 2nd place he must be very confident ahead of tomorrow's race.

Casey Stoner set the early pace but straight after he had set the fastest lap he once again lost the front end of his Ducati, he then spent the rest of the session struggling to get the set up right on his 2nd bike. He improved his time with 3mins of the session remaining but stayed in 3rd place.

Jorge Lorenzo was once again consistent with his times in qualifying but couldn't match the pace of Pedrosa, however Lorenzo is confident he has the race pace to take it to Pedrosa tomorrow.

The 2nd row will be made up of Valentino Rossi, Ben Spies and Randy De Puniet, Rossi is still struggling for fitness following his broken leg earlier in the season. Spies on the other hand is just continuing to improve in his maiden MotoGP season and will be looking to get away with the guys at the front tomorrow and challenge for the podium. De Puniet must be encouraged by his 6th place he too also recovering from a broken leg.

Rumours are circulating regarding Marc Melandri who qualified in 10th today, with an announcement expected shorty that he has signed for the Yamaha World Superbike team.

One rider who must be bitterly disappointed is Nicky Hayden who was as high as 7th in the mornings free practise session but struggled throughout qualifying and could only manage 14th place.

It's all set for a cracking race tomorrow and hopefully we'll see a good battle at the front for the win. Mike Evans  Girlracer magazine
