Signature locks out the F3 podium at Brands hatch Print E-mail
Saturday, 04 September 2010 14:00

PodiumAt the 1.929 kilometres short Brands Hatch Indy circuit, Edoardo Mortara (Signature) scored his sixth race win in the 2010 Formula 3 Euro Series and his fifth consecutive victory on a Saturday.

With this result, the Geneva-based Italian further extends his points’ lead in the Formula 3 Euro Series and is now 26 points clear of Marco Wittmann (Signature). The German ended up third in the 13th season round behind Mortara and Belgian Laurens Vanthoor (Signature).

For Edoardo Mortara, the start was most important moment. He had a better getaway than pole-sitter Laurens Vanthoor. This allowed Mortara to overtake Vanthoor on the outside of the first corner. After that, the points’ leader of the Euro Series drove an undisputed victory home. Laurens Vanthoor, on the other hand, was shadowed by Valtteri Bottas (ART Grand Prix) throughout the race. However, the Finn couldn’t benefit from the two driving errors made by the Belgian. Instead, Bottas had to let Wittmann through after having made a mistake himself. Thus, Signature drivers locked out the podium for the first time this year.

Edoardo Mortara (Signature): “I knew that the start would be my only chance to win the race. My start was really good, but it was quite close in the first corner. Still, I took Cars on trackthe risk, because I wanted to win. Once I was in front, I really cheered in the car.”

Laurens Vanthoor (Signature): “As such, second place is all right, but when you are starting from pole position, you want to win. My start was okay, but Edoardo’s start was nearly perfect. During the race, I also had some problems with the balance of the car.”

Marco Wittmann (Signature): “Making a mistake is always a possibility at Brands Hatch, because the track doesn’t provide any possibility to relax. Therefore, I tried to keep the gap to Valtteri and Laurens as small as possible and I was able to benefit from Valtteri’s mistake. My problem was the start where I lost two places. Now, we have to analyse that.”Girlracer Magazine
