Sarah, who won the Ginetta Junior Championship in 2009, hence becoming the first ever female champion on the British Touring Car Championship package, was approached by researchers to make a guest appearance on the show as it celebrates the launch of the 2010 Formula One Season. Along with Blue Peter presenter, 26 year old Andy Akinwolere, Sarah will race a giant ‘Scaletrix’ car around the studio, whilst advising the show’s young viewers on how best to get into motorsport. Commenting on her TV date, she said: “I couldn’t believe it when they called me and asked me to go on the show. I’m one of 5 children and we’ve all grown up watching it – plus its great to see motorsport being covered by children’s TV. Having a British Formula One World Champion in Jenson Button has meant a lot more kids are taking in interest and I’m honoured to be asked to talk about how I got into the sport. I just hope I get a Blue Peter badge!” Lawrence Tomlinson, Ginetta Chairman said: “It’s a sign of Sarah’s ever rising profile that she has been asked to go on a world-renowned show such as Blue Peter. Everybody at Ginetta is delighted for her and we’ll be watching her appearance avidly!” The youngster, who won a host of awards in 2009, was also shortlisted in a list of ten names for BBC’s Young Sports Personality of the Year and was credited by organisers for being “the most successful female racing driver in Britain and in the history of motorsport”. She will defend her Ginetta Junior Championship this year, racing a brand new Ginetta G40 with Eurotech - a highly respected racing outfit based in Tamworth. http://www.girlracer.co.uk
